Political Please Note - In early October - Members and Enthusiasts attend the Conservatives Abroad Conference Javea Conservative Association Policy Forum - Introduction The Conservative Policy Forum (CPF) is an important part of the Conservative Party structure. Instead of ad hoc "Focus Groups" beloved of Tony Blair, CPF has a proper system for ensuring that the views of Conservative Party members are taken into account before new legislation is drafted. The Jávea branch of Conservatives Abroad is registered with CPF About four times a year Central office CPF sends out a brief about a topic, together with a list of questions on which they would like the opinions of members. We meet to discuss them and the answers are sent back to Central office, where they are taken into account as legislation on that topic is considered. It is a wonderful way of ensuring that we have a genuine political input and a real voice in Conservative development. This is especially good for those who have lost the right to vote under the 15-year rule.
The CPF here is run by Dr Gerald Hales JP, who has had extensive experience of Conservative politics at all levels for a long time, including serving for a number of years on the CPC (as it used to be called) National Committee. He knows that the views of the members really are heard and noticed! The CPF meetings are hosted by Gerald and his wife Margaret at their home in Benitachell (urbanización Cumbre del Sol). There is a page in the JaveaCAVA Group giving details of the next brief we shall discuss and when the meeting is to take place, as well as instructions for getting to Gerald and Margaret's home. If you are interested in attending, but unable to log in to the Group - please contact the Branch via right@itude.org.uk and your details will be forwarded so that Gerald can send you the information Bring your views and thoughts and we would love to see you. ¡Hasta la vista!
